Greatox Delivers the First 65-Ton Autonomous Port AGV from Its Changzhou Manufacturing Base

    July 13, 2026 – Greatox officially celebrated the delivery of the first autonomous port AGV manufactured at its Changzhou Production Base. The vehicle is scheduled to enter service at Luojing Port, Shanghai, on July 15.

    The newly delivered AGV features a rated payload of 65 tons and is equipped with an L4 autonomous driving system. Designed with an 8×4 drive configuration, it supports multiple driving modes, including forward driving, diagonal movement, and other omnidirectional maneuvers. The vehicle reaches a maximum speed of 35 km/h under full load and is equipped with both remote driving and remote diagnostic capabilities.

    The AGV was designed and developed by Greatox's Shanghai R&D Center and manufactured at the Changzhou Production Base, where it successfully completed assembly, system integration, calibration, load testing, and road testing before meeting all factory acceptance requirements. It was officially dispatched from the Changzhou facility at 4:30 PM on July 13.

    For autonomous port vehicles carrying payloads of up to 65 tons at operating speeds of 35 km/h, safety remains one of the most critical concerns for port operators.

    Drawing on years of experience in heavy-duty autonomous vehicle development, Greatox has established a comprehensive vehicle safety system that incorporates multiple redundant braking mechanisms, including both service braking and parking braking systems.

    These redundant safety systems ensure that the vehicle can be brought to a safe stop not only during normal operation but also in the unlikely event of system failures or complete power loss, providing maximum operational reliability.


Industry-Leading Energy Efficiency

    Energy consumption directly impacts the operating costs of autonomous port logistics. Therefore, improving vehicle efficiency has become a key performance indicator for port operators worldwide.

    Greatox approaches energy efficiency from two perspectives: 

    Reducing overall vehicle weight & Optimizing vehicle energy management and control strategies

    Taking the 65-ton container AGV as an example, the industry average vehicle weight is approximately 22 tons, while the Greatox AGV weighs less than 20 tons, significantly reducing energy consumption.

    In addition, Greatox's engineering team has devoted years to developing advanced energy regeneration technologies and intelligent energy-saving control algorithms. As a result, Greatox autonomous port vehicles achieve 5–8% lower energy consumption than the industry average.

Expanding Manufacturing Capacity

    The Changzhou Production Base is Greatox's second manufacturing facility, following the company's Beijing production base.

    With an initial investment of RMB 50 million, the Changzhou facility is designed to support semi-automated assembly of autonomous port vehicles. Upon full operation, the plant is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 800 autonomous port AGVs.

Strengthening Greatox's National Manufacturing Network

    The establishment of Greatox's East China Manufacturing Base in Changzhou fills an important gap in the region's autonomous port vehicle manufacturing industry. The project has received strong support from both the Changzhou Municipal Government and the Wujin National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, including favorable industrial policies.

    Changzhou is one of China's leading manufacturing cities with a well-developed heavy vehicle supply chain, providing an excellent foundation for Greatox's localization strategy and long-term supply chain optimization.
